ABOUT ME

Jytte Skau, Cand. Psych. Aut.

As a Psychologist, I work to help other people with their personal problems and development through conversations. I have many years of experience in treating children, young people, families and adults. The treatments are organized in collaboration with a focus on influence in relation to what is experienced as helpful and useful.

Authorization

I offer supervision to psychologists with a view to authorization as well as supervision of other professional groups, for example healthcare staff and employees at the municipality. In addition, I am authorized by the Board of Psychiatrists and approved to accept medical referrals.

My Approach

I always work based on basic values, regardless of what I work with as a psychologist. I find it important to be authentic. In short, I say what I do and do what I say.

I have chosen to combine my knowledge and interests, and therefore I also offer services in both the psychological field and the business/organizational psychology field.

The reason for this is that with my knowledge, experience, and work with psychological disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression, I can bring this into my work within the business sector. Likewise, my knowledge, experience, and work in the business/organizational psychology field can be applied in therapeutic sessions for psychological disorders.

In other words, most people with psychological disorders also go to work, and at work, we encounter people with varying degrees of psychological challenges.

As a business/organizational psychologist, I have specialized knowledge and interest in helping individuals function well in the workplace, whether as leaders or employees.

A business/organizational psychologist works, among other things, with the development and ensuring of well-being in the workplace for everyone, stress prevention, or in other words, the development of a good and healthy organization. Business psychologists work with leaders, employees, groups, and concepts such as culture, values, and strategy.

An occupational and organizational psychologist (or business psychologist) is a psychologist with special knowledge about the behavior of individuals and groups in relation to organizations and work, as well as knowledge about processes within organizations. This knowledge can be applied in organizational and personnel development, advice on work climate, conflict resolution, staff recruitment, etc.

In supervision, I support professional learning and development, ensuring that professional growth, focus on quality in practical professional practice, and, not least, well-being at work are prioritized.

Supervision is a method used as a professional development tool among psychologists working with people. Supervision is conducted by a supervisor who has special experience in the professional field. Therefore, my own experience as a leader is relevant. The recipients of supervision are called supervisees.

Supervision can be provided to individuals or small groups. The supervision takes place within a time-limited framework. Supervision particularly focuses on the people who are meant to benefit from the profession’s work.

When I work with leadership coaching, I focus on the important balances in the “leadership life.” You make an impression with the way you express your leadership “will and style.” And the way your employees react makes an impression on you.

Understanding the impact of how you, as a leader, act, communicate, and respond requires a good psychological understanding. This is particularly important in relation to job satisfaction.
